Roger Federer wants someone to tell him the truth’, says former American champion
2020 was a fairly unfortunate season for Roger Federer, who recently underwent double surgery on his right knee and won’t see himself on the court again until early 2021. During his long hiatus from tennis, the 20-time Grand Slam champion has continued to train together with his historic coach Severin Luthi, who appeared quite confident about the chances of seeing the Swiss in excellent condition at the Australian Open 2021.
The former World number 1 could also play another tournament to better prepare the Happy Slam. Tennis Channel invited four-time Grand Slam champion Jim Courier and legendary Martina Navratilova, who analyzed the longstanding relationship between Federer and Luthi.

The 39-year-old from Basel has collaborated with Stefan Edberg, Paul Annacone and Ivan Ljubicic over the past few years, but Severin has remained a constant presence in his box.
“You want someone to tell you the truth, because often times when you are a top player people don’t,” Jim Courier said.
“They are afraid, they coddle you. You want someone who can break it down when you’re not doing it right and point you in the right directions. That’s what you’re paying them for. You can have all the yes people around you in the world, you want someone as a no person.”
After that record-breaking Cape Town encounter against Rafael Nadal, Roger announced a knee surgery, planning to get back on the court in June in Halle and Wimbledon. The coronavirus pandemic had halted the tennis action in March and it was a perfect opportunity for the Swiss to continue from the same position as his rivals once tennis would restart.
