During an interview with CNN, the winner of 23 Grand Slam single titles talked about the movie King Richard and how it helped her family’s story. The interview was done a few days prior to the 2022 Oscars in Hollywood, California and both sisters were very proud when they saw the movie for the first time.

“It was important for us to tell the truth and the protection that my dad had around myself and my sister and our family together… It was my dad. It was my mom, it was our family,” said Serena Williams.

King Richard was released in 2021 and it is a movie that tells the story of how Venus and Serena Williams started in the sport of tennis and how their father played a key role in their success.
