Last week, Rafael Nadal put on yet another impressive performance to win the French Open 2022 title. He defeated Casper Ruud of Norway in the summit clash to clinch his 14th Roland Garros title. The Spaniard has been in stupendous form this season. Earlier this year, he won the Australian Open title. In the process, he became the first man to lift 21 Grand Slam singles titles, racing ahead of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
Further, it has been an eventful season so far for the 36-year-old. After a brilliant start to the 2022 season, he suffered a rib injury that forced him out for about a month and a half. Additionally, during his French Open campaign, Nadal admitted to playing through pain owing to his long-term issues with a foot injury. Recently, he underwent treatment for this problem.
After his French Open triumph, Nadal received the first radiofrequency injection in Barcelona. This is a preliminary treatment and some days will be needed to know whether it works or not. Subsequently, he arrived at the Barcelona Airport on crutches. The Spanish legend was happy to sign autographs for fans and pose for pictures.

Further, talking about his worsening foot condition, Nadal said, “We can try to make a treatment to try create this feeling in a permanent condition. That’s we are planning to do next week. I don’t know the name of the treatment in English. The idea is to create the impact I have now on the nerve for a long period of time. If it doesn’t work, it will be another story. I’ll have to ask myself if I’m ready for a major surgery that would help me to play again.”
After winning his 22nd Grand Slam title, the Spaniard moved up a spot in the latest ATP rankings. He leapfrogged Stefanos Tsitsipas to become the fourth-best player in the world in men’s singles.
