Lando Norris Revealed fears of life-threatening that…
Zhou Guanyu and Roy Nissany were saved by their cars’ halos in terrifying smashes at Silverstone last Sunday.
In Nissany’s case, Dennis Haugher’s Formula Two car was launched into the air when he struck a raised kerb and ploughed into the halo safety device of his rival.
Similar oversized kerbs are used at Austria’s Red Bull Ring – where Lewis Hamilton AND George Russell both crashed out in qualifying – and at Monza.
The kerbs have been blamed for several crashes and drivers want them removed from all tracks.
In 2020, ex-FIA race director Michael Masi was forced to bin the kerbs from turns nine and ten at the Red Bull Ring because of safety concerns.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner said they had caused more than £250,000 worth of damage to his cars in the 2019 race.
And with this year’s new cars now running so close to the ground, Norris is worried there could be more kerb chaos — and will be voicing his concerns to track bosses.

The McLaren ace, who would consider quitting F1 if he was ever caught in a horror smash, said: “It has not been such an issue in previous years.
“But now, because the car is so much lower and stiffer, when you hit these kerbs, you don’t ride it, you hit it and the kerb launches the car up.
“Cars hit the kerbs, they pop up, do big wheelies and then slam back down again — and the driver does his back in.
“The cars have changed and the rules need to change, too.
“They have got the yellow sausages on the exit of turn seven. We’re going a lot quicker and it could be an issue. It will be spoken about.”
When asked if the kerbs in Austria were more dangerous than ever, Brit Norris added: “They definitely are now. Ideally, we would get rid of them.”
