Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz questioned Red Bull’s supreme development process amid cost cap breach. Red Bull picked up the driver’s championship last year despite facing extreme competition from Mercedes. In 2022, they are already on their way to pick up the double title again after 2013.
Sainz questioned this incredible development pace shown by the Austrian team despite having a such tight budget.
Talking about this, the Ferrari driver conveyed, “I think during a Formula 1 year, it is normally a combination of both, but normally Red Bull moving ahead and us, obviously, trying to keep up on development.”

“But they have developed the car a lot, more than we expected that you could do in a budget cap situation. They have been developing just incredibly fast and fast-moving. We try to keep up but sometimes it is difficult,” further stated the former McLaren driver.
Red Bull reportedly breached the 2021 cost cap. It came to light after FIA announced it following the Japanese Grand Prix. The announcement also came after a day when Max Verstappen picked his back-to-back driver’s title. However, the F1 governing body is still to figure out the penalty for the Milton-Keynes-based team.

Even though Mercedes picked up the constructors’ championship in 2021, Red Bull were better than them statistically. The German team beat the Austrians by 28 points in the very last race in Abu Dhabi.
However, things would’ve been different if Max Verstappen wouldn’t have crashed in Baku and Silverstone. Red Bull racing picked up 11 wins and 10 pole positions as compared to Mercedes AMG F1’s nine wins and nine pole positions. When it comes to 2022, the statistics are even more brilliant.
