Russell Westbrook of the LA Lakers was assessed with a flagrant foul in overtime against the Dallas Mavericks. With the game tied at 103 in overtime, Luka Doncic was bringing the ball down when Westbrook bumped into him.
Doncic went flying into the sidelines, while Westbrook tripped to the floor. The Mavericks superstar didn’t like the contact and immediately went after Westbrook. The former MVP was upset with the Doncic’s gesture and quickly got back up as officials, coaches and players separated them.
Due to the the nature of the contact, Westbrook was called for a flagrant foul penalty one. However, Doncic missed two technical free throws as the game went on to a second overtime.

This is a dumb play from Russ. No reason to do this. Not sure if it is a flagrant or not but it is definitely not a take foul to me.
After Luka Doncic missed the two extra free throws, the LA Lakers failed to capitalize as the game remained tied at 103 with two minutes left. Spencer Dinwiddie gave the Dallas Mavericks a two-point lead with a monster dunk.
The Lakers will get the lead back after a successful and-one play from Wenyen Gabriel. LeBron James gave the Lakers a three-point lead with one minute remaining, but Doncic evented the game once again with another stepback 3-point shot.
In the second overtime, the Lakers lost steam as they were outscored 11-7 by the Mavericks. Russell Westbrook hit a huge 3-point shot early in the period, but Spencer Dinwiddie took over. James also missed two crucial shots from beyond the arc late in the second extra session.

Reggie Bullock iced the game in the free throw line to give the Mavericks a 119-115 win. Doncic was greeted with smiles and hugs from Westbrook after the game despite their altercation in the first overtime.
Russell Westbrook was criticized last season for his terrible play for the LA Lakers. Westbrook has found a new role this season as the team’s sixth man. He has been thriving since moving to the bench, averaging 15.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 1.0 steals.
