LeBron James took over the NBA regular-season points lead previously held by legendary center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar last Tuesday. It is known that the relationship between the current and former Los Angeles Lakers player is not good, however, the “Captain” was present at Cypto.com Arena to see the historic moment of the “King”.
However, the cameras caught Kareem extremely interested in the game, even clapping as LeBron approached the historic mark and when it happened he got up from his seat excited and then was part of the ceremony and behaved in a great way even hugging James and symbolically passing him the ball with which he broke the milestone.
Judging by the statements of James Worthy, former champion with the Lakers where Kareem played and one of his best friends, that attitude of the inventor of Sky-Hook was not only a good behavior.

“I mean, Kareem was overwhelmed and for those of you who knew Kareem 30 years ago,” Worthy said. “Kareem has come full circle in life and really is enjoying himself and enjoying just living. I mean, he said that records were meant to be broken. I don’t think he thought anybody would break it but I think Kareem handed it over with grace.”
Of the five championships KAJ won with the Lakers, Worthy was part of three of them, also the second he was at LeBron’s coronation party and admitted that for him it wasn’t necessarily the best experience.
“I was a little sad to see the record being broken ’cause I just love Kareem,” Worthy said, “He’s my best friend on the team. I’m sure somewhere down deep in his heart, he’s had it for so long that it becomes a part of you that you never think it’s gonna leave you. Not to be able to say that again, it’s probably something that he’ll miss, but his body of work will never be forgotten.”
