The mindset of an athlete to achieve a goal is something people are not aware of. The goals are more or less similar for even athletes in different sports like the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. However, there seems to be a difference in the wants and goals between the Mavs star and veteran NFL quarterback. Luka Doncic‘s recent statement on his choice for either MVP or championship has caught the attention of the fans.
Fans seem to have given Doncic a reality check by bringing in NFL quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers, who gave a contradicting statement previously. Doncic and his team continue to face shade from the fans.
Doncic continues to lead the team and wins do not come easily for the Dallas Mavericks. Fans believe Doncic has not received great support from his teammates. Though the Slovenian guard is averaging 33.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 8.1 assists, the Mavs have not made a dominant win this season. Fans’ expectations for Kyrie Irving are high at the moment after his recent arrival at the Mavericks.

Doncic in a recent interview with New York Times stated, “I’d rather have championships than MVPs”, giving a contradicting statement to that of Aaron Rodgers. The veteran quarterback was blasted by various people for his statement on winning MVPs. Fans who continue to fire shots at Luka Doncic dragged in Rodgers. Rodger’s desire to win another MVP was not received well by the fans and a few analysts. In a tweet from January, former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski did not hold back, after he made it clear Rodger’s desire should be a championship. However, the 4x MVP did not get either of them this year.
The Mavericks have extended their losing streak to three, after their loss to the Denver Nuggets yesterday. Irving who sat out due to a back injury watched Jokic and the Nuggets torch the Mavs. Doncic’s 37 points and 9 assists were not enough for the team to get past the Nuggets. Both the veteran guards have played only two games together since Kyrie Irving’s arrival.
However both games did not go well for the duo. Irving and Doncic’s 30-point performance did not help the Mavs to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves. Dallas fans continue to hope for a season turnaround.
