Real Madrid and Spanish soccer legend Amancio Amaro has passed away at the age of 83. Amancio, who played for Real Madrid between 1962 and 1976, won nine La Liga titles and a European Cup during his time at the club. He also represented Deportivo La Coruna between 1958 and 1962, in addition to earning 42 Spain caps. His death has brought over a gloomy shroud on the world of sports. Athletes all over the world mourn with Real Madrid fans today. And to that, tennis legend Rafael Nadal, who is also a die-hard Real Madrid fan, has added his comments.
Rafa recently took to Instagram to mourn the loss of the legendary soccer player. Rafa has always been a Madrid fan, with high ambitions of becoming the President of the internationally acclaimed football club one day.
Rafael Nadal, a forever Real Madrid fan, recently uploaded an Instagram story to share the pain of this loss with his followers and fellow Real Madrid fans. He voiced his condolences in Spanish, which translates to English as, “Rest in peace Amancio, we will all be forever grateful”.

Amancio stayed involved with Real Madrid after retiring from the sport. After his playing career, he was appointed as the club’s honorary president. His contribution to football in Spain and Real Madrid will be remembered forever
The La Liga champions expressed their condolences and affection to Amancio’s family in a club statement. The statement expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Amaro, highlighting his status as one of the greatest legends of Real Madrid and the world of soccer.
Known as El Brujo, or The Magician, Amancio scored the equalizing goal in the 1966 European Cup final against Partizan Belgrade. He scored a total of 155 goals in 471 appearances for Real Madrid.

Nadal posted about his support to the Argentine football legend for rightfully deserving the Laureus Awards over himself.
